Hey there, fellow parent adventurer. So we note you’re planning a trip with your toddler in tow? First of all high five! Traveling with little ones is no joke, but it’s also one of the most rewarding experiences you can give your child and yourself. From one traveling parent to another, we’ve been there, snack meltdowns, surprise blowouts during mid flight, mid-car ride, mid-coach ride you name it, and all the “why did I forget THAT?” moments.
To save you from those, we put together the ultimate list of what to pack when traveling with toddlers. Whether you’re jetting off internationally or road tripping through the countryside, this toddler travel checklist is your go to sanity saver.

Toddler Travel Essentials You Do Not Want to Forget
Let’s start with the non-negotiables, the things that can make or break your day if they’re not in your bag:
- Diapers & Wipes: Pack more than you think. This always a must even if your taking a quick stroll to the park.
- Changing Pad: Because public bathrooms are not always baby friendly. See some great options HERE.
- Pull-ups or Training Pants: If you’re in that “fun” potty training stage. We would recommend training pants as they are amazing as they are cost effective being reusable and allow your toddler to get use to the transition from pull ups (nappies, diapers whichever you call them) to underwear. Check out some amazing options HERE.
- Hand Sanitizer & Tissues: Sticky hands are everywhere.
- Basic Medication: Think baby Tylenol, teething gel, thermometer.
Bonus tip: Pack a small first aid kit. A scraped knee at a castle ruins the site? Been there.

Snacks: Your Secret Weapon
You know this already, but snacks can solve 98% of travel crises. Pack:
- Crackers, fruit pouches, mini rice cakes
- A Sippy cup or spill proof water bottle. We would like to point out that the Miracle Sippy cup is a gem and we will keep recommending this Sippy cup until a better one (in our opinion comes out). We’re only recommending this cup as we have never had an issue with spills. Now please choose whichever cup you trust for your little one, and check out some other options HERE.
- Reusable utensils & a travel bib. These are true delights and although it may seem like they’re not necessary when travelling for some, try them before you judge and check out the options.
Do you have a picky eater on the go? Bring a favourite snack from home that you know they’ll eat, even if you’re in the middle of Tokyo or Tuscany. Check out these Mummy Cooks food flasks they are absolutely amazing and great for hot, or cold food and beverages.

Entertainment on the Go
Keeping a toddler busy while confined to a seat? Olympic level challenge. Here’s what helps:
- A couple of favourite toys, plus one or two new surprises.
- Board books and sticker books.
- Tablet loaded with videos/apps (don’t forget toddler headphones!). Check some options HERE.
- Colouring set (the mess free kind is gold).
Insider trick: Wrap a few toys like gifts. Unwrapping is half the fun and buys you extra quiet minutes.
Extra Clothes & Sleep Stuff
Because you know, how it can go with toddlers at times. Pack:
- At least 4 extra outfits (Yes over pack just in case)
- A comfy pair of shoes
- Pyjamas and their sleep sack or blanket
- Don’t forget the beloved stuff toy or another favourite toy (do not risk forgetting this!)
Bonus: If they sleep with a sound machine at home, pack a mini one or download an app like an Audible that will give you access to everything from audiobooks, music, sound machines, podcasts and more. Check out some options of sound machines HERE, and check out joining the Audible membership HERE. You get a 30 day FREE trial which is amazing and if you decide to subscribe it will cost you £8.99 a month.

Travel Gear That Makes Life 100x Easier
This stuff makes transitions smoother and helps you feel like the rockstar parent you are:
- Car Seat: Yes, even if flying, it’s safer and familiar.
- Lightweight Stroller: Umbrella strollers or travel systems work great.
- Carrier or Baby Sling: Especially useful in crowded spots.
- Travel Crib: Some hotels provide, but check ahead.
Check out out blog on the best travel gear when travelling with toddlers HERE.

Traveling internationally? Bring –
- Toddler passport (Check out these cute little passport holders for the whole family).
- Consent letter if traveling without the other parent
- Health insurance info (some places ask for it)
Real Talk: Our Top Tips
- Pack smart, not heavy. Overpacking equals stress. Think essentials and comfort items.
- Stick to your routines as much as possible, meals, naps, bedtime rituals.
- Say yes to screen time. You’re not a bad parent for surviving a flight with Paw Patrol.
- Give yourself grace, you’re doing something amazing which is exploring the world with your child.
